Wheat is found in:

Beverages: beer, gin, malted milk, Ovatine, Postum and whiskey.

Breads: Including biscuits, crackers, muffins, pretzels, rolls and pumpernickel breads, rye, soy, white and some cornbreads.

Cereals: Bran flakes, corn flakes, cream of wheat, Farina, Grapenuts, Krumbles, muffets, Pep, Rice crispies.

Flours: Buckwheat flour, corn flour, gluten patent flour, lima bean flour, whole wheat flour,

Pasta, Pastries and Desserts

Wheat Products: dumplings, hamburger mix, macaroni, noodles, rusk.

Wheat is the allergy nobody wants but there are many alternatives to work around it. You can still enjoy, bread, beer and baked goods, if you master the art of gluten free baking or gluten free shopping.

Food Republic is a good source to get started on mastering the gluten-free life. Click here to check out 5 Gluten-Free Beer That Are Actually Worth Drinking

Brown and white rice pastas are gluten-free. As far as pastries, bread, pizza crust and baked goods there are many alternatives that replace wheat flour with rice, almond, coconut or paprika flour.

Being on a diet like this may require you to make your own meals and treats more often, which will also make you more aware of what you eat and ultimately boost your health. A wheat allergy is not necessarily a bad thing; it is an opportunity to make big improvements  in your lifestyle.

Sincerely,

Dr Paul Smith & Team
